The Shame of the Stain

Welcome to the Queendom!

Today's meditative scripture is Ephesians 5:25-27: "Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless."

When getting ready for a date, do you make sure you dot all your Is and cross all your Ts before heading out? What I mean is, you take a shower, make sure you comb your hair, find the perfect outfit to impress that special someone, put on make up, perfume. You do all this to make sure that you represent yourself in the most perfect way possible.

Well in this passage of scripture, Christ had the very same concept. He took the church (us) as his bride. Christ understood that in a marriage, one partner is reflective of the other. In that respect, Christ sacrificed Himself to make us holy; cleansed us with His word. He did it all so that we could be a perfect reflection of Him.

In life we ought to adopt this same mentality. If we are going to rid ourselves of the shame of the stains our past has left on us we must do three things:

  • Love yourself
    • This sometimes can require deliverance from self-rejection.
  • Sacrifice
    • There are some things you just have to give up in order to be free.
  • Meditate on His word
    • His word will cleanse you and help set you on the right path to everlasting and total freedom in Him.
How badly do you want to be spotless?
